SAVANNAH, Ga. – Soldiers of the 366th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear Company (CBRN), along with family and friends, attended a ceremony in Savannah, Ga., on Saturday April 25, to honor and recognize the company as they prepared to deploy.

The ceremony was held at the Savannah Army National Guard Armory adjacent to the CBRN Company’s reserve center to accommodate the large crowd.

Deputy Commanding General for the 335th Signal Command (Theater), Brig. Gen. James Blankenhorn, spoke at the ceremony and told the soldiers, “You are prepared, well lead and the best trained. I am very proud of the sacrifices you are making.”

“We have been preparing for this deployment for months and months to include collective training at home station and will be heading to our mobilization station at Fort Hood to continue our training,” said Cpt. Hai Tu, commander of the 366th. “The soldiers may be young, but they are ready, motivated and excited to start the mission.”

Tu is a police officer with the Savannah – Chatham Metropolitan Police Department.

The top enlisted soldier for the 366th is 1st Sgt. James M. Brinkley, who has been in the position for about a year.

“We have gone through evaluations and we are very capable and ready to assume this mission and be successful,” he stated.

Brinkley also serves as a unit administrator for the 371st CBRN Company located in Greenwood, S.C.

The 366th will deploy approximately 100 soldiers to the Middle East in support of Operation Enduring Freedom for about nine months.

Other notable guest speakers and attendees included: Col. Michael Maguire, 415th Chemical Battalion Commander; Lt. Col. Shea Sherbert; Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department; Joseph Lumpkin, Chief of Police; veterans of Foreign War post #660; Harold Piet, retired 1st Sgt. and Patriot Guard Rider.
