FORT HOOD, Texas – After nearly 10 years of inactivation, the 1st Cavalry Division Artillery (DIVARTY) will reactivate during a ceremony Thursday, April 2 at 10 a.m. on Cooper Field.
Col. Patrick Gaydon, commander, and Command Sgt. Maj. Berk Parsons, senior enlisted advisor, of the 41st Field Artillery Brigade will case the brigade’s colors as it inactivates and unfurl the colors of the 1st Cavalry Division Artillery during the ceremony.
The 41st Field Artillery Brigade was first activated on Aug. 26, 1918 as the 41st Artillery (Coastal Artillery Corps). During its 97-year history, the brigade has been reorganized, inactivated, activated, and redesignated 13 times.
Interested media representatives who wish to attend the ceremony must RSVP no later than Wednesday, April 1, at 5 p.m. The event link up time is 9 a.m. at the Fort Hood Visitor Center.
