YONGSAN GARRISON, SEOUL, South Korea – Soldiers from the Pennsylvania Army National Guard’s 213th Regional Support Group are joining forces from around the world to participate in Key Resolve 2015.

Key Resolve is an annual command post exercise that ensures the ROK-U.S. Alliance is prepared to defend the ROK, while training Alliance forces to respond to any potential event on the peninsula.

Members of the 213th Regional Support Group Headquarters and 109th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment are supporting the Eighth Army during this exercise.

The 213th Regional Support Group Headquarters is supporting logistics for the exercise along with their Eighth Army and Republic of Korea- Army counterparts. “This exercise is an excellent opportunity to work in a joint-level operation,” said Maj. Eric Turner, operations officer with the combined transportation movement center.

The 109th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment is working alongside the Eighth Army Public Affairs and Republic of Korea-Army Public Affairs staff.

Exercises like these offer an opportunity to exercise all U.S. military components.

“In an Army that is shrinking, the expeditionary capability and deployability of the remaining units is more important than ever. One practical way of exercising and validating this capability is through overseas training by reserve component units with their active duty counterparts. This maintains readiness while also maintaining interoperability with active units,” said Lt. Col. John O’Boyle, executive officer for the 213th Regional Support Group.

Key Resolve exercise is scheduled from March 2 to 13, 2015.
