    89th Military Police Brigade

FORD HOOD, Texas - Soldiers with the 89th Military Police Brigade gathered together in the early morning at the Spirit of Fort Hood Chapel to build fellowship and faith during a prayer breakfast Feb. 18.

While the Soldiers partook in breakfast, Brigade Chap. (Maj.) Wyne Hutchings shared his message, “God with Us,” the truth of God being with us.

“The purpose of the prayer breakfast is to gather us together as a brigade and acknowledge the fact that we need to ask for God’s grace,” Hutchings said.

Hutchings developed this message specifically with the Soldiers of the 89th MP Bde. in mind. The brigade is tasked with the vital mission of protecting Soldiers both at home and abroad.

“I have been struck with such awe since I have been assigned to this brigade,” Hutchings said. “What is unique about MP units is literally 365 days a year, there is an MP from this brigade in harm’s way, whether it is working the road here on post, or serving with a company deployed downrange.”

The event offered the Soldiers with the 89th MP Bde. not only a chance to eat and gather together, but also an opportunity to grow spiritually.

“I really like the event,” said Pfc. Andrew Remy, who serves as a supply clerk with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 89th MP Bde. “(Prayer breakfasts) are important to a lot of people because people take religion seriously, and it can play a huge role in people’s lives.”

Hutchings wanted the MPs to know God is with them.

“What I wanted to get across to everybody here is that whether they are working the roads, working in the office, going to (National Training Center) or serving on a deployment, God is with them,” Hutchings said. “They don’t face challenging missions of any kind without him.”

Hutchings wanted Soldiers to leave with the understanding that God is with them no matter what situation they find themselves in.

“Since they are constantly in harm’s way,” he concluded, “I wanted them to have that peace and comfort, and know whatever they may face that God is with them.”
