FARGO, N.D. — The North Dakota Air National Guard, whose members also are known as the “Happy Hooligans,” will recognize their “best of the best” during the 2014 Outstanding Airmen of the Year banquet at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 7, in Moorhead, Minn.
Fifteen Airmen have been nominated for the annual awards in three categories based on their military and civic service during 2014. The winners will be named during a formal awards banquet.
Five Airmen have been nominated in each of three rank-affiliated categories. Each of them first participated in board interviews and was evaluated within their individual squadrons before being chosen as nominees.
Maj. Gen. David Sprynczynatyk, North Dakota adjutant general, is scheduled to render remarks and will assist in presenting the awards.
The banquet also will include awards for “First Sergeant of the Year” and “Unit Career Advisor of the Year,”
Nominees in the Outstanding Airmen of the Year category are:

• Senior Airman Luke Knutson
• Senior Airman Christopher Flitton
• Staff Sgt. Chloe Gunderson
Nominees in the Outstanding Noncommissioned Officer of the Year category are:
• Master Sgt. Thomas Brummer
• Tech Sgt. Todd Ouradnik
• Staff Sgt. Kellynn Fosse
• Tech Sgt. Joshua Bartholomew
• Tech Sgt. Dana Dabbert
Nominees in the Outstanding Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year category are:
• Senior Master Sgt. Jeff Lien
• Master Sgt. Luke Gardiner
• Senior Master Sgt. Jeff Miller
• Master Sgt. Verlane (Jim) Harr
• Master Sgt. Melissa Woodard
