    II Marine Expeditionary Force

CHERRY POINT, N.C. - Marine Wing Support Squadron 271 welcomed Sgt. Maj. Jermaine L. Jenkins and bid farewell to Sgt. Maj. Christopher J. Campbell during a relief and appointment ceremony at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Feb. 12.

Campbell served as the squadron's senior enlisted advisor since his appointment in June 2013. Now after 33 years of dedicated service to the Corps, Campbell is slated to retire in March 2015.

"I have held a successful career for many years, but now it is time to let someone else fill my shoes," said Campbell.
Lt. Col. Ginger E. Beals, the commanding officer of the squadron, spoke a few words on behalf of the squadron regarding Campbell and his service before welcoming Jenkins into his new position.

"Sgt. Maj. Campbell is a prime example of Marines who hold not only their fellow Marines up to standards, but themselves as well," said Beals. "He has left big shoes to fill, but I believe Sgt. Maj. Jenkins is the right man for the job."

Jenkins comes to the squadron after serving as sergeant major of Marine Corps Security Force Regiment at Naval Weapons Station Yorktown, Va., during his preceding tour.

"I look forward to working alongside the other leadership aboard the air station and learning how to grow from the wisdom they give me," said Jenkins.

According to Jenkins, he is most looking forward to working with the Marines of MWSS-271, learning from them and leading them to success.

"It has been a great honor to be selected as the sergeant major for this unit," said Jenkins. "Being the voice of these Marines to the commander is a responsibility and pleasure I am looking forward to."
