FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- U.S. Army Reserve Capt. Frank Musisi witnessed several of his classmates and childhood friends die from HIV/AIDS and felt he had to do something about it.
Capt. Musisi started an out-patient clinic in 2004 in his native Uganda to fight the HIV/AIDS epidemic there.
He used his personal savings to start the non-profit clinic and has since opened a second clinic which served approximately 20,000 people last year and has expanded to fight malaria, provide dental care and child delivery.
The Parliament of Uganda has recognized Capt. Musisi for his dedication and impressive work.
He is currently the headquarters company commander for the 377th Theater Sustainment Command in New Orleans, La., and attended the University of California at Irvine.
Capt. Musisi is immediately available for media interviews.
Interested media should contact Capt. Eric Connor, deputy chief, media relations for the U.S. Army Reserve Command at (910) 570-8330 or at eric.w.connor.mil@mail.mil.
