BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Afghan national army commandos, assisted by coalition forces, recovered a truckload of stolen goods in Kabul province, Jan. 14.

Criminals, with suspected ties to insurgents, hijacked a 'Jingal' truck and a shipping container full of supplies. The shipping container had apparently been missing for some time. ANA commandos were informed of the location of the container, verified its origin, and contacted the owner.

"Criminals set up illegal checkpoints, terrorize citizens, and steal from truck drivers delivering goods throughout the country," said a commando. "This is not good for our economy."

The commandos set up a convoy to take the recovered stolen goods back to its original owner.

"We want to protect civilians from the insurgents," he said. "Insurgents will steal the goods, and then sell them to finance their illegal activities and operations."

"This is our job," said an ANA commander. "We will not tire. We are very proud."

"The Afghan national army is committed to ensuring the safety and security of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan," said a coalition soldier. "Keeping the roadways safe, eliminating illegal checkpoints, and bringing security to the Afghan people will lead to a more stable and secure environment."
