PORT HUENEME, Calif. – Seabees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 3 Echo Company Detachment Chinhae teamed up with Bravo Company and conducted security reaction training at Naval Base Ventura County, Port Hueneme, Feb. 6.
The training prepared NMCB 3’s react team to respond to any type of situation at an entry control point (ECP).
The purpose of an ECP is to control who comes in and out of camp with proper clearance. The react team accomplished setting up the ECP and personnel and vehicle inspection area within a few hours.
They trained using barriers and concertina wires as obstacles to walkways and two-lane roads to prevent vehicles speeding through an ECP.
“Now I feel confident how to properly search people and also setup an ECP,” said Construction Mechanic Constructionman Jorge Garcia. “No one will get through me!”
During the training, the react team went through several scenarios, such as personnel and vehicle inspection, bomb threats and small arms fire.
“After this training evolution, I am confident in these troops and believe the react team is ready for our field training exercise and anything that gets thrown at them,” said Builder 1st Class Chris Hallberg, NMCB 3 react team leader.
The Naval Construction Force is a vital component of the U.S. Maritime Strategy. The force provides deployable battalions capable of providing disaster preparation and recovery support, humanitarian assistance and combat operations support.
