LAGHMAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan – The 201st Corps Commander, Maj. Gen. Mohammad Zaman Waziri, hosted a lunch for incoming and outgoing senior leaders of Train, Advise, Assist Command – East. The guests of honor were the outgoing Regimental Leadership team, Col. Cameron Cantlon and Command Sgt. Maj. Roger Heinze. The TAAC-E Commander, Brig. Gen. Christopher Bentley was also present at the meal.
The 3rd Brigade Combat Team “Rakkasans” of the 101st Airborne Division are replacing the Brave Rifles. Col. J.B. Vowell and Command Sgt. Maj. Walter Tagalicud are the incoming Rakkasan brigade leadership.
The meal consisted of authentic Afghan cuisine of flatbread, rice, lamb and chicken. The conversation consisted of accolades on achievements of the past and hope for better things to come in the future. Heinze stated, “I want to come back in 20 years and duck hunt on that river,” referring to the Kabul River that is visible from the 201st Corps Headquarters.
Small gifts, mostly framed pictures and certificates of achievement were shared between the leadership.
