The ceremony commemorates establishment of the U.S. Navy’s newest global readiness-focused Type Command (TYCOM), responsible for manning, training, equipping (MT&E) and identifying requirements for all Navy Information Dominance capabilities.

Media interested in covering this event should contact George Bieber at 757-203-3082, or Jacky Fisher, 757-203-3080, NAVIDFOR Public Affairs office, no later than 3 p.m., Jan. 27. NAVIDFOR stood up Oct. 1, 2013, to consolidate and align missions, functions, and tasks (MFT) previously managed by separate ID commands (specifically, Navy Cyber Forces Command, Fleet Cyber Command, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (NMOC), and the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI)) to improve the generation and sustainment of ID force readiness across the Navy.
