    Marine Corps Installations East

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - Wounded Warrior Battalion-East is hosting their first Veteran and Charitable Organization Symposium at Marston Pavilion aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 23.

The symposium will give local organizations a chance to see, first-hand, the impact they’ve had on the battalion through their contributions.

It will also give members of WWBn-East the opportunity to personally meet those charitable and veteran organizations supporting them.

“This symposium will provide a unique opportunity for both the recovering service member and the charitable and veterans organizations, by allowing face-to-face communication between the two, fostering lasting friendships, long-term care and continued support as the recovering service member
transitions out of the Marine Corps,” said 1st Lt. Andrew Year, WWBn-East future operations officer and Wilmington, Ohio, native.

A presentation, titled “Who We Are and What We Do” will be given during the event, to familiarize attendees with how they can specifically support the battalion in the future.

“Because of their steadfast support, WWBn-East wants to strengthen relationships with those organizations
and also form new partnerships with nonprofit organizations who may be interested in supporting our Wounded Warriors, veterans and their families in the future,” said Dallas Poole, WWBn-East Veteran and Charitable Organization Program Coordinator and Roxboro, North Carolina, native.

Seventeen organizations, including Hope for the Warriors, Enable America and Jacksonville Veterans Center, will be present at the event, each giving a brief presentation on what they offer to veterans and Marines, sailors and family members of WWBn-E.

While this is the first Veteran and Charitable Organization
Symposium to be held by WWBn-East,
Poole said they will continue to host similar events
    in the future.

“(Events will be held) as long as there are wounded,
ill or injured Marines and sailors, and veteran and charitable organizations who desire to provide assistance, fellowship and transition opportunities.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided at the event.

For more information, please call Poole at 449-9578.
