    Story by Capt. Jarrod Morris

By Capt. Jarrod Morris and Polish Army Lt. Col. Adam Wloczewski

LAGHMAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan – After several months of preparation at home in Poland, a group of Polish army soldiers assigned as advisers to Train, Advise, Assist Command – East arrived to Tactical Base Gamberi and Operational Base Fenty Dec. 19, 2014.

The advisers are part of the larger Polish contingent known as Task Force White Eagle supporting the NATO mission in Afghanistan. The advisers begin their new jobs training, advising and assisting Afghan security forces in eastern Afghanistan as NATO’s new Resolute Support Mission gets underway Jan. 1, 2015.

Leading up to the Jan. 1 transition, Polish advisers part of the TAAC-E Military Advisory Team and Police Advisory Team are conducting a transition with the current advisors from the U.S. Army’s 3rd Cavalry Regiment. The transition is often called a right-seat, left-seat ride and is symbolic of a new driver taking the wheel.

The Polish advisers are part of the TAAC-E advisory platform focusing on training, advising and assisting the 201st Afghan National Army Corps and Afghan police forces in eastern Afghanistan. The goal is to help Afghan forces improve their systems and processes that will make them sustainable for the long term.

On arrival to TB Gamberi members of the Polish advance party that arrived a few weeks earlier welcomed the Polish advisers at the helicopter landing zone. The advance party spent time leading up to the advisers’ arrival connecting with the TAAC-E team, coordinating logistics and setting the conditions for a smooth transition.

With all advisers in place, the Polish coalition members of TAAC-E are ready to begin Resolute Support.
