CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - Patients of Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune and its branch clinics have the opportunity to take an active role in their healthcare through the Relay Health program.
The web-based program is designed to provide patients better access to their primary health providers. Active duty service members, their families and retirees are eligible to utilize the program through any internet capable device.
“Relay health is as easy to use as email,” said Cmdr. Daniel D’Aurora, NHCL deputy director of medical services and Morgantown, West Virginia native. “We’re trying to modernize the concept of medicine and the program is part of how we’re looking to deliver care.”
Relay Health offers a variety of online services available to patients, providing convenience and flexible options.
“Through electronic communications, patients are able to receive care in an efficient and timely manner without necessarily going to a clinic,” said D’Aurora. “After a lab test, patients can leave and have their results sent though Relay Health. If they run low on their prescription, they can send a request through the program. Many services through the program are convenient and patients don’t have to go to their clinic.”
Patients can also ask their health care team any medical questions they may have receiving a response within 48 hours, as well as keep track of their medical records.
“Relay Health improves the doctor and patient relationship,” said Navy Capt. Joe Duane, NHCL director of healthcare business and Waycross, Georgia native. “It also maximizes our capability to communicate with the patients.”
Patients can sign up for Relay Health online at www.relayhealth.com or at their branch clinic and receive their login information after their appointment.
