KABUL, Afghanistan - Afghan National Police command sergeants major attended the first ANP Senior Noncommissioned Officer Logistics and Maintenance Seminar at Milano Theater at International Security Assistance Forces headquarters, Nov. 16.
Combined Security Transition Command–Afghanistan coalition advisers created and hosted this conference to discuss training needed to improve how ANP maintain assigned equipment and conduct supply procedures.
“The goal of this seminar is to teach the senior enlisted noncommissioned officers supply discipline, the ordering process, maintenance procedures and how to operate the different management systems,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Wardell Turner, senior enlisted adviser for CSTC-A.
During the conference, guest speakers focused on topics such as equipment services, how to properly report inoperable equipment and stressed the significance of unit property accountability.
“It’s an NCOs responsibility to know where your equipment is and how to track it, Turner said. “This is your chance to get all the information you need to be successful.”
Since this was the first time they were all able discuss logistics together as senior leaders, the command sergeants major took this opportunity to ask numerous questions and came forward to present information to their peers regarding logistics and taking care of their unit personnel.
As the conference came to a close, Maj. Gen. Dil Agha, a Ministry of Interior deputy, expressed his gratitude toward CSTC-A sharing their logistics and maintenance knowledge with Afghan forces.
“We really appreciate the sacrifices you have made and thank you for bringing us together to teach us how to take care of our own,” Agha said, “Without this information we cannot and will not succeed.”
