    1st Theater Sustainment Command

CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait – Soldiers assigned to the 1175th Transportation Company of the Tennessee National Guard here received an early holiday treat when they were visited by Maj. Gen. Gus Hargett, the Adjutant General of Tennessee, Dec. 11.

Hargett expressed his delight in being able to spend quality time with his Soldiers and to check on their well-being.

"I'm glad to be here at Camp Arifjan today visiting the Tennessee Guard Soldiers ... active duty Soldiers and Reservists, and just to see what they do, see the new equipment that they've been trained on, and to see how happy and proud they are to be doing the things that the country has asked them to do," said Hargett.

Hargett, along with Command Sgt. Maj. Mark Breece, the command sergeant major for the Tennessee National Guard, spent more than four hours interacting with the Soldiers. They ate lunch with the Soldiers and made a trip to the motor pool to check the status of their equipment and how it's being used in the war on terror.

"It makes me feel a whole lot better to see that our upper echelon is willing to come over here and do what they need to do to make sure we're getting everything we need to get the mission accomplished," said Spc. Mitchell Allen, a motor transport operator from the 1175th Transportation Company, and a native of Shelbyville, Tenn. "It's just really good to see that they do care enough to actually come out here."

Sgt Brad Albaugh, an engineer from the 1175th Transportation Company, echoed similar sentiments.

"It shows the Soldiers that they (the distinguished visitors) care," said Albaugh, a native of Clarksville, Tenn. "The State wants people to take time out of their day to think about the Soldier that's over here. Me personally, I think that we should see more of them, but I understand that they do have other jobs that they have to do within their state positions."

The Soldiers have been deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom since July of 2007, and look forward to accomplishing their mission with the support and direction of their chain of command.

"Having them come over here and show their support, especially during the holidays, shows what a really good command we have, and I really appreciate it," said Staff Sgt. Stephen Little, a Heavy Equipment Transporter mechanic from the 1175th Transportation Company, and a native of Bells, Tenn.

Hargett praised his Soldiers for the great work that they do and encouraged them to keep up the good work, and wished for them a merry Christmas.

"It's just a tremendous honor for me to be here and to serve with a group of people like this," Hargett said.
