MARINE CORPS AIR STATION BEAUFORT, S.C. - The Police Chiefs’ Association held their monthly meeting aboard Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, Oct. 23.

Representatives from departments included the Marine Corps’ Provost Marshal’s Office, FBI and City of Beaufort Police Department. The meeting enabled the chiefs to share information on resources and training opportunities and discussed a variety of issues impacting the Tri-Command and citizens of Beaufort County.

“We have a common mission of ensuring the safety of the community and of the Air Station,” said Chief Matt Clancy, chief of police for the City of Beaufort. “Criminals have no boundaries, so we typically work together on the same or similar issues.”

Some of the training discussed was protocol procedures in case of disease outbreaks, population concerns and planning and training for the Air Station’s Air Show, which is scheduled for April 11-12, 2015.

“It is important for the Air Station to continue building the relationship between the military and the local community,” said Maj. Eduardo Pinales, Provost Marshal for the Air Station.

The Air Station maintains a close relationship with the community often involving local emergency responders in mock exercises such as fuel spills, active shooters and search and rescue exercises.

The Association, through training and meetings, continually works towards enhancing the knowledge and skills of the police executive, which strengthens his/her ability to meet the demands of providing the best possible law enforcement.
