RALEIGH, N.C. – Chief Warrant Officer 5 Jack Cardwell was honored during a retirement ceremony at Joint Force Headquarters here, Oct. 29, 2014.
Cardwell has more than 36 years of service to include 30 years in the North Carolina National Guard.
Cardwell, a Lumberton, North Carolina native, enlisted as a private in 1974 and served in the Army until 1980. After an almost four-year break in service he enlisted in the North Carolina National Guard in 1984 and was later commissioned as a Warrant Officer in 1992.
During his service with the North Carolina National Guard Cardwell deployed to Iraq with the B Company, 230th Brigade Support Battalion, 30th Heavy Brigade Combat Team where he oversaw the full spectrum of maintenance operations in the Field Maintenance Company.
“My favorite thing about serving was mentoring enlisted [Soldiers], fellow warrant officers, and officers,” said Cardwell.
Cardwell’s most recent assignment was serving as the Maintenance Management Technician in the National Guard Bureau Logistics Maintenance Branch where he was the senior Maintenance Warrant Officer for the National Guard.
