    SOUTHCOM commander, Coast Guard commandant to discuss emerging Western Hemisphere challenges

    WASHINGTON - U.S. Marine Gen. John Kelly, commander of U.S. Southern Command, and U.S. Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Paul Zukunft will host a program titled “Emerging Challenges in the Western Hemisphere” at 1 p.m., Oct. 7 in the Abraham Lincoln Hall Auditorium on Fort Lesley J. McNair, in Washington.

    The event is open to the media.

    Michael Miklaucic of the Institute for National Strategic Studies will moderate a discussion between Zukunft and Kelly. Following the discussion, Miklaucic will moderate a panel with:

    1. Michael Braun - Managing partner, SGI Global, LLC, and former chief of operations, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration

    2. Douglas Farah - Senior fellow at the International Assessment and Strategy Center and adjunct fellow at the Center for Strategic & International Studies

    3. Celina Realuyo - Professor of practice, William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies, National Defense University

    Media members must show government-issued ID upon entering the base. There will be parking available at Fort McNair.
