MANAMA, Bahrain – Vice Adm. Kevin Cosgriff, commander, Combined Maritime Forces, spoke at a luncheon with members of the Rotary Club of Manama, Bahrain, Dec. 2, reinforcing the continued interaction and cooperation with global partners in the maritime environment.
Cosgriff discussed the coalition's respect for its friends and allies in the region, the credible and responsible use of naval power to increase security and stability, and the coalition's commitment to building partnerships.
During his address, Cosgriff compared the coalition's mission with Rotary International's motto: "Doing Good in the World."
"Our coalition works to achieve the same objectives as Rotary International—building stronger permanent relationships," Cosgriff said. "Working for regional security supports global economic stability as well as local prosperity. As the oceans are shared, no country should 'go it alone.'"
The principles shared by the coalition and Rotary International are the springboard for continued cooperation in the region, Cosgriff said.
"We—the Rotary and NAVCENT—believe that collaboration in our respective environments is central to being able to effectively operate in an increasingly globalized world, one that rarely has disassociated problems and where unitary solutions rarely work."
