FORT HOOD, Texas - Friends and family members of the 75th Ordnance Company, 79th Ordnance Battalion attended the first Family Demonstration Day at the Cold Springs Explosive Ordnance Disposal Range on Fort Hood, Aug. 22.
More than a handful of friends and family crowded onto a bus with their Soldiers to spend an educational day in the 100 degree Texas sun learning what their loved ones do for a living.
Throughout the day, the guests donned a protective bomb suit, looked at simulated munitions from around the world and played with the explosive ordnance disposal robots used by the Soldiers.
“We put this together to build Soldier morale and to show our family and friends what we do,” said Capt. Charles Schnake, the commander of the 75th Ordnance Company. “It’s been a good time and we may look to do this every six months.”
