MARINE CORPS AIR STATION NEW RIVER, N.C. -- Children ran back and forth from bouncy houses to water slides, enjoying the combination of summer heat and cool water at the Marine Corps Air Station New River marina Wet-N-Wild, June 24.
Wet-N-Wild Tuesday, a free event hosted by the air station marina, is an opportunity for families in the local area to see what the marina can do for them, said Kenneth Prince, marina manager.
“Wet-N-Wild is a day for the families to come out and bring the kids and enjoy the marina,” he said. “Come out and see what we have to offer.”
During the event, patrons enjoyed free usage of paddle boats, kayaks and canoes. There were also several bouncy houses and water slides for the children.
For lunch, families enjoyed free hotdogs, chips and drinks.
Christina Gregson, a military spouse, said the event was a special day of water-filled fun for her and her three children.
“I think this event is great,” she said. “The kids really enjoy it -- especially the water slides. The kids love it here.”
The marina will be hosting two more Wet-N-Wild events this summer, one July 16 and one currently being planned for mid-August, Prince said.
The air station marina is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the weekend.
Not only can patrons rent sporting gear, camping accessories and other summer items, but they can also enjoy a meal at the new Marina Ship Store.
