The Department of Defense today released the names of the two U.S. Navy Sailors shot and killed Oct. 22 on Naval Support Activity Bahrain. The shootings are not terror-related.

Seaman Anamarie Sannicolas Camacho, 20, of Panama City, Fla. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy June 2006.

Seaman Genesia Mattril Gresham, 19, of Lithonia, Ga. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy November 2006.

Both Sailors held the Master-at-Arms rating and were assigned to NSA Bahrain.

Camacho and Gresham were fatally shot at approximately 5:00 a.m. Oct. 22 and pronounced dead at the scene. The shootings took place in one of the on-base barracks.

The third Sailor, also assigned to NSA Bahrain, remains in critical condition at a Bahrain hospital suffering from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Initial indications are the three Sailors were acquainted, but the extent of their relationships and the details of the shootings are still under investigation.

NSA Bahrain is the home base for U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/U.S 5th Fleet/Combined Maritime Forces. The U.S. Navy values its friendly relations with the Kingdom of Bahrain and appreciates the Kingdom's outstanding and continuing support and cooperation during this tragic event.
