FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died May 14 from an apparent gunshot wound in Harker Heights, Texas.
Maj. James D. Mullin, 40, whose home of record is listed as Harker Heights, entered active-duty service in January 1997 as an armor officer. He was assigned to Headquarters Company, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, since November 2013.
Mullin deployed to Afghanistan from February 2004 - June 2005 and again from February 2012 - July 2012.
Mullin's awards and decorations include: two Bronze Stars, one Meritorious Service Medal, five Army Commendation Medals, six Army Achievement Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, three Overseas Service Ribbons, NATO Medal, Air Assault Badge and Parachutist Badge.
