    Gunnery Sgt. John Basilone Bowl Announces Media Day

    *Update 27 May 2014: The Basilone Bowl Media Day will now be conducted on June 3 from 5-7 p.m. at Bridgewater-Raritan High School.

    BRIDGEWATER, N.J. - The United States Marine Corps and Somerset County Football Coaches Association will host the Second Annual Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone Bowl Game Media Day on Tuesday, May 27 from 6:00-8:00pm EST at Bridgewater-Raritan High School in Bridgewater, New Jersey.

    Eighty (80) of Somerset County’s elite high school football players, who have been selected to play in this one-of-a-kind football game, will be on-site for a meet and greet. Photo opportunities will be available for football fans of all ages as everyone will have a chance to take a picture next to their favorite high school star representing the two teams, the Leathernecks and Devil Dogs.

    Media representatives will have an opportunity to visit with selected players, as well as the coaching staff and key members of the United States Marine Corps.

    About Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone:
    Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone, of Raritan, New Jersey, was awarded the Medal of Honor in recognition of his outstanding heroism at Guadalcanal. Later, during the Iwo Jima Campaign, he was killed in action on D-Day, 19 February 1945. This game has been launched as a tribute to the legacy of John “Manila John” Basilone and to honor the pride of the Somerset county community.
