LANSING, Mich. - Please join me at the Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center on July 19, 2014 to take part in an innovative military training exercise. Michigan Army National Guard Soldiers along with four other states’ National Guard units and an active duty Army component will use the eXportable Combat Training Capability program (XCTC) to test their skills. More than 5,000 National Guard and active duty Soldiers and contractors are participating.

The XCTC program provides realistic military training using new technology and engagement strategies. It was designed to certify company proficiency and mobilization readiness in coordination with First Army. The XCTC exercise at CGJMTC will mark the very first time in history that National Guard and active Army forces have certified proficiency together. Joint certification demonstrates shared capabilities and skill sets among National Guard and full-time Army forces – a critical readiness component to meeting U.S. overseas and domestic security objectives.

Soldiers will be tested in a variety of scenarios that simulate both domestic and international settings including urban combat, search and rescue, and rural security.

In addition to showcasing XCTC exercises, custom tours of Camp Grayling can be arranged in order to capture a specific topic or feature of the installation that has particular interest to your audiences. The camp is 147,000 acres of green training ground with continual infrastructure and facility enhancements. Military units, police, fire, emergency responders, wildlife conservationists, natural resource officials and other groups travel from around the globe to train at CGJMTC.

To reserve your tour spot and seat on the media aerial tour (subject to sufficient interest and flight command approval), please RSVP BY MAY 1, 2014 to the Michigan National Guard Public Affairs Office, 517-481-8140/8141 or at NG.MI.MIARNG.LIST.PAO@MAIL.MIL
My team and I look forward to your visit.

    - Lt. Col. William Humes, State Public Affairs Officer, Michigan National Guard
