Afghan Commandos introduce new ALP chief

LOGAR PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Babus villagers welcomed a new police chief Feb. 16 during a shura led by Afghan National Army Special Forces soldiers of the 8th Special Operations Kandak in Pul-e-Alam District, Logar Province.

About 150 villagers attended the shura and selected Commander Reshad as the new Afghan Local Police chief because of his experience fighting insurgents, said an official at the shura.

Reshad said he is ready to take the fight to the insurgents by expanding the ALP program in Babus, where ANASF and ALP forces found a large weapons cache just three days before.

The new commander plans to increase the number of law enforcement officials and checkpoints to keep local villagers safe from the Taliban, adding that he doesn't fear the insurgents.

If the Taliban attempt to impose their will on the citizens of Babus, they will pay dearly with their lives, he said.
