YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea – Seongnam Air Base hosted a ceremonial event to sign the memorandum of understanding between 15th Special Missions Wing and U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan, K-16 installation, Feb. 6.

First, Col. Michael E. Masley, garrison commander for USAG Yongsan, met with Lt. Col. Brian E. Walsh, 2-2 assault commander, at K-16 and then traveled to the Seongnam Air Base.

Brig. Gen. Noh Seung Hwan, wing manager for Seongnam Air Base, and Col. Lee Jae Gil, vice wing manager for Seongnam Air Base, greeted them. Masley and Noh discussed how Seongnam soldiers appreciate the support from Yongsan Garrison and the interaction during sporting events.

The memorandum of understanding provides a mutual understanding between the 15th SMW, USAG-Y, K-16 Air Field, and assigned units of each component, regarding training for physical fitness and education events.

As he signed the document, Masley firmly noted that the association between U.S. Army and ROK army will be strengthened through this event.

Walsh concurred with Masley’s comments and looks forward to seeing the agreement in action.

“I think the best way for soldiers to feel camaraderie is to team up in a physical activity,” Walsh said. “I’m glad for the MOU and I can’t wait to see a game played by my soldiers and ROK soldiers.”
