GHAZNI PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Eighteen Afghan National Security Forces members graduated Feb. 5 from an Explosive Hazardous Reduction Course, or EHRC, in Ghazni province’s Gelan district.
Afghan National Army soldiers and Afghan Local Police from Muqor district completed an 11-day course designed to teach security forces how to identify and disarm various types of improvised explosive devices.
The graduates hope to return to their respective commands and villages and teach other ANSF members some of the techniques learned during the EHRC, said an instructor. The threat of Taliban IED attacks remains high across Afghanistan, he added.
An ANA representative said the training would allow Afghan forces to find and destroy most of the insurgent placed IEDs in the region without assistance from outside organizations.
Gelan and Muqor district leaders expressed support for the training and congratulated the EHRC graduates.
