    PORTLAND, Ore. – Lt. Col. Glenn O. Pratt became district commander of the Portland District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at a ceremony Dec. 4, 2013, in Portland, Ore.

    Pratt assumed command from Col. John W. Eisenhauer who is retiring from the U.S. Army following 23 years of distinguished service. Eisenhauer served as commander of Portland District since June 30, 2011.

    The Portland District is responsible for the Corps’ water resource activities in western Oregon and southwestern Washington and has one of the Corps’ most comprehensive and diversified civil works programs. Emphasis is placed on environmental protection and restoration, fish and wildlife protection and enhancement, hydropower production, navigation, flood damage reduction, recreation and operation of the Corps’ center of expertise for hydropower and pump station engineering.

    A native of Richland, Wash., Pratt earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1988 from Simpson University in Redding, Calif., and holds a Master of Science degree in engineering management from the Missouri University of Science and Technology. His military education includes the Command and General Staff College, Engineer Officer Advanced Course, the European NATO Engineer Instructor Course, the Joint Engineer Operations Course, the Sapper Leader Course, and has also graduated from Jumpmaster School, Air Assault School and the Basic Airborne School.

    Prior to this assignment, Pratt served as deputy district engineer for the Portland District since Aug. 15, 2011.

    He served as division engineer for the 101st Airborne Division and deployed to Afghanistan as the director of engineer operations for Regional Command-East from May 2010 to May 2011. Earlier assignments included division engineer plans officer, 101st Airborne Division, battalion executive officer and brigade engineer officer in the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, from 2005 to 2009.

    Pratt’s military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (three oak leaf clusters), Army Commendation Medal (two oak leaf clusters), Army Achievement Medal (two oak leaf clusters), National Defense Medal (one bronze service star), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon (fourth award), NATO Medal, Sapper Tab, Master Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Combat Action Badge, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Joint Unit Meritorious Award and French Parachutist Wings. He has also been awarded the Army Engineer Association’s Bronze Order of the de Fleury medal.
