MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - Patrons will have no shortage of fear and living nightmares at Terror Town held at the Area 3 Gym aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, today, Friday and Saturday.

Marine Corps Community Services offered visitors an opportunity to be frightened while navigating through the gym, which was transformed to a haunted house of ghouls, goblins and monsters.

“I’ve been participating since the year 2000,” said Charles Miller, the base’s theater and entertainment manager, as well as the project officer for MCCS’ Terror Town. “I make sure everything goes as planned so people attending won’t forget the experience they had.”

Volunteers and base employees gathered at the gym hours before the event to organize the maze, gather their costumes and formulate a plan to scare everyone who comes across their path.

“This is my fifth year volunteering for Terror Town,” said Gunnery Sgt. Bo C. Proctor, a V-22 mechanic with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Training Squadron 204 aboard Marine Corps Air Station New River. “Every year is more fun for me, I love being able to step away from the workplace and just scare people on Halloween.”

Volunteers spent their time perfecting their appearances to get the most screams during the event.

“There’s always room for improvement,” said Miller. “I always stay and listen to feedback, because that’s what matters. I love hearing from both my actors and patrons. They keep these events running every year.”

Service members, base employees and families are invited to visit Terror Town if they dare.

“Halloween is my favorite time of the year,” said Proctor. “All of us volunteers have a great time hearing people scream in fear, so enter at your own risk.”

Terror Town will be welcoming visitors Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is $7 at the door.

Tickets are available for purchase at the Central Area Recreation Center, French Creek Recreation Center and at the gate of Terror Town. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
