FORT BRAGG, N.C. - Select battalions of the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, are slated to deploy to Afghanistan late this year and early next year in support of the International Security Assistance Force.

This is the fourth deployment for the Fury Brigade, or one of its units, since its activation in 2006.

The deployment is expected to last up to 12 months.

Fury paratroopers expect to conduct vital security force assistance operations to further advance Afghanistan National Security Force capabilities for the safety and security of the Afghan people.

Fourth BCT's first-hand knowledge of Afghanistan and their intensive training program over the last 12 months will provide a solid foundation for any mission they are called to perform.

“The Fury Brigade is proud for the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing mission to bring stability and security to the people of Afghanistan,” said Col. Timothy Watson, commander of the 4th BCT. “Our units will continue to hone their skills through focused,
mission-specific training until deployment and build on the great lineage and history of the 82nd Airborne Division.”
