ALP recruits graduate Jalalabad training center

NANGARHAR PROVINCE, Afghanistan- Afghan Local Police guardians welcomed 54 new graduates in a ceremony Sept. 25 at the Jalalabad Regional Training Center in Nangarhar province’s Rodat district.

The guardians trained for three weeks on patrol techniques, basic first aid, checkpoint operations, counter improvised explosive device training, Afghanistan rule of law and fundamentals of basic marksmanship.

“We teach them all the right things,” said ALP training center instructor Ajmal Ahmadi. “Our purpose will be to protect our people and our country.”

ALP complement counterinsurgency efforts by providing security support to rural areas with limited Afghan National Security Forces, enabling conditions for improved security, governance and development.

Ahmadi said the ALP program not only supports Afghanistan on a national level, but serves as the first line of defense and protection for the Afghanistan’s people.

“Our door is open,” said Ahmadi. “We encourage the local people to do what is right by joining and supporting the ALP program. It is never too late to make the right decision in protecting your own country and your own people.”

This is the training center’s fourth ALP graduating class this year.
