BREMERTON, Wash. - The chief of naval operations held an all-hands call for more than 900 sailors at Naval Base Kitsap-Bremerton, Sept. 25.

Adm. Jonathan Greenert began by re-enlisting 26 sailors from commands throughout Navy Region Northwest.

“I thought it was an awesome opportunity to be reenlisted by Adm. Greenert,” said Information Systems Technician 2nd Class Tony Johnson, currently assigned to the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74), from Hattiesburg, Miss. “Not everyone can say they were re-enlisted by the CNO.”

During his visit, Greenert spoke on several topics, including the strategic importance of Navy Region Northwest.

“A lot of our Navy comes out of the Pacific Northwest from Whidbey Island down to this area [Puget Sound],” said Greenert. “Make no mistake about it, you’re a big part of the bigger picture.”

Greenert concluded his visit by emphasizing the Navy’s policy on sexual assault prevention.

“We have to deal with it,” said Greenert. “We have to extract it and we have to defeat it.”
