SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. - This week's Third Army/ARCENT Soldier of the week is Staff Sgt. Daniel Mannisi, Third Army/ARCENT operations noncommissioned officer for current operations. Mannisi hails from St. Louis, Mo., and has been in the Army for eight years.
Q. What are your hobbies?
A. I enjoy going to different parks and being outdoors with my wife and our dogs.
Q. What do you enjoy doing most during your free time?
A. During my free time, I enjoy going to the gym for a good workout and cooking.
Q. What are your short-term professional goals?
A. My short-term goal is to successfully complete the Senior Leader Course in October.
Q. When did you make the decision to become a Soldier and why?
A. I was working at a retirement home for veterans and interacting with them made me feel proud; so I joined the Army.
Q. If you could take a vacation to a location of your choice, where would you go?
A. I would go to Venice, Italy; I have always thought it's a great place to relax and ride the boats like a lazy river.
Q. What do you enjoy most about being a Soldier?
A. I enjoy interacting with the greatest people and knowing that we all want the same goals, and that's protecting the American way of life.
Q. If you could change one thing about the Army, what would you change and why?
A. I would change the promotion system; I feel that there should be a skills and knowledge test, similar to other military branches.
Q. If you could hold a different position in ARCENT for one day, what position would you choose?
A. I would like to hold the position of the security personnel at Patton Hall, because they get to talk to everybody.
