CAMP LEATHERNECK, Afghanistan -An Albuquerque, N.M., native and U.S. Marine recently deployed to the Helmand province here from Camp Lejeune, N.C., with Combat Logistics Regiment 2, Regional Command (Southwest), in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, July 9.
While in Afghanistan, Cpl. Arianne Self, a vehicle recovery expert and driver with Support Co., will provide logistical support to forward deployed Marines, U.S. allies and Afghan National Security Forces.
“I contribute by making sure that whatever platoon I go on a mission with successfully arrives at their destination,” Self said.
A graduate of Rio Rancho High School, Self added she knew she would join the Marine Corps from a young age.
“My favorite part about my job is the satisfaction I feel after a recovery because of how relieved and grateful the Marines are that we have helped,” said Self, who already served a tour in Afghanistan the previous year.
