BREMERTON, Wash. – Commander, U.S. Fleet Cyber Command and U.S. 10th Fleet visited the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) Aug. 22 during his visit to Navy Region Northwest.
Vice Adm. Michael Rogers met with senior leaders from Stennis and Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IFM) and was given a tour of the ship’s dry dock facility.

“When I planned my visit to the Northwest Region, I knew I had to see Stennis,” said Rogers. “This ship and her crew have an outstanding record of excellence throughout their two previous deployments and I know they will continue to build on that record after the current maintenance period.”

During the tour of the dry dock that highlighted the ship’s ongoing maintenance and repairs, Rogers also spoke of the importance of information dominance.

“The core of our information dominance programs is our people,” said Rogers. “Stennis has the right people, and I am very proud of the work they have accomplished.”

Prior to departing, Rogers thanked the Stennis and PSNS & IMF teams for their hard work and dedication.

“His visit was very important,” said Capt. Michael Wettlaufer, Stennis’ commanding officer. “During this maintenance period we’ll be receiving several upgrades to our network security systems and cyber warfare capabilities and it’s important that we work with Fleet Cyber Command to align our efforts with the vision from U.S. Cyber Command.”
Fleet Cyber Command serves as the central operational authority for networks, cryptologic/signals intelligence, information operations, cyber, electronic warfare, and space capabilities in support of forces afloat and ashore.

Stennis is currently undergoing a Docked Planned Incremental Availability (DPIA) maintenance period at PSNS and IMF.
