CAMP LEMONNIER, Djibouti -Sailors at Camp Lemonnier recently received nearly 300 packages from Operation Gratitude, a non-profit, volunteer-based organization that sends over 100,000 care packages to service members annually to show appreciation for their sacrifices.
"It’s nice to feel appreciated by those back at home who care about what we’re doing over here,” said Personnel Specialist 1st Class LeAnne Millious, Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa Strength Management. “The Operation Gratitude care package lifted my spirits and changed my day that started out bad into a pretty good one,” said Millious.
Each package contained items such as letters of appreciation, snacks and entertainment items for service members.
"The packages are great. I really appreciate the fact that Operation Gratitude took the time to think of us who are deployed," said Personnel Specialist 1st Class Han Peng, Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa Administration Department leading petty officer.
The request for packages and names of recipients came from Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center (ECRC), the group that directly assists Individual Augmentee (IA) Sailors by ensuring they are properly equipped and trained to deploy in support of Overseas Contingency Operations.
