Afghan National Security Forces kill three insurgents during Taliban ambush
KUNDUZ PROVINCE, Afghanistan - Members of the Afghan National Army special forces, the Afghan Uniformed Police, and Afghan National Army killed three insurgents and wounded two insurgents during a failed Taliban attack on their joint patrol in Dasht-e Archi district, Kunduz province, July 26.
The joint Afghan forces were taking food and supplies to an Afghan Local Police checkpoint when they took heavy small arms and rocket-propelled grenade fire from 30 enemy fighters. The insurgents attacked the joint patrol from various positions from the west and retreated after the Afghan forces returned effective fire, killing three insurgents and wounding two others.
“The outcome of such cooperation and coordination between our forces has been very good,” said ANASF team leader Capt. Ahmad Waheed Rajab. “It is a matter of great pride for every Afghan patriot to risk his life for local security and the security of Afghanistan. We, as sons of this nation put on the uniform and bear arms to fight the insurgents and terrorists that come from foreign countries. They fail continually to recognize us as the effective force that we are.”
The ANASF are elite Afghan National Security Force that conducts high-risk counterinsurgency operations to enable conditions for improved security, governance, and development.
The Afghan National Security Forces are assuming the lead for stability across Afghanistan through joint operations, demonstrating that progress is both real and tangible.
