MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - A U.S. senator visited Marines assigned to U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Special Operation Command (MARSOC) at Stone Bay, July 15.

Senator Kay R. Hagan, North Carolina (D), was greeted by Maj. Gen. Mark A. Clark, commanding general, MARSOC, and received a tour of a live-fire and simulated small arms weapons training facilities and a demonstration of the Marines’ capabilities.

During the demonstration, Hagan participated in a live-fire, quick reaction drill on a static target, followed by simulation room clearing drills.

After the demonstrations, Hagan complimented the Marines on their hard work and dedication.

“I commend you for what you do, not only for the force, but also for the country,” said Hagan. “I admire the courage you all display every day. What you do is really hard.”

Hagan gained first-hand insight of MARSOC’s enhanced capabilities through the live-fire and simulated drills where they executed operations quickly and with precision against a wide range of threats, making MARSOC operators an effective fighting force within U.S. Special Operations.

Hagan sits on the United States Senate Committee on Armed Forces and chairs the sub-committee on emerging threats and capabilities.
