MCIPAC bids Talleri farewell, welcomes Hudson
MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP S.D. BUTLER, OKINAWA, Japan - Maj. Gen. Peter J. Talleri relinquished his duties as the commanding general of Marine Corps Installations Pacific to Maj. Gen. Charles L. Hudson at a change of command ceremony aboard Camp Foster on June 14.
Talleri is retiring from the Marine Corps after 34 years of faithful service to his country and his third tour to Okinawa. He led Marine Corps Bases Japan in support of III Marine Expeditionary Force units during theater security operations, as well as Operation Tomodachi. In 2011, he became the first commanding general of Marine Corps Installations Pacific. As a farewell Talleri had these words to offer Marines and special guests in attendance, “This is a great team, and a great alliance. I think we set an example throughout the world. It was an honor to serve with you.”
The incoming commander’s previous assignment was as Commanding General, Marine Corps Logistics Command in Albany, Georgia. Before that, he served as the Commanding General, 1st Marine Logistics Group and during this period deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Hudson also participated in operations conducted in Grenada, Lebanon, the Arabian Gulf, East Timor, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
“(My wife and I) are extremely excited and honored to be a part of this command and part of the Marines in the Pacific area of responsibility,” said Hudson. “We will do our utmost to continue to provide support to the Marines assigned to the Pacific area and their families during our tour."
