    KABUL, Afghanistan – An Afghan and coalition security force arrested one enemy of Afghanistan during an operation in search of an al-Qaida facilitator in Behsud district, Nangarhar province, June 14.

    The facilitator coordinates the delivery of weapons, military equipment and money to al-Qaida and operational cells for use in attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. He also relays messages for senior al-Qaida leadership.

    Afghan and coalition security forces confirmed today the death of two senior Taliban leaders, Qari Halim and Sajad Jan, during an operation in Archi district, Kunduz province, June 13. Halim, also known as Zubair, was the ranking Taliban official in Archi district responsible for command and control, finance and logistical efforts for extremists in the region. He oversaw a group of approximately 50 fighters that have engaged in ambushes and improvised explosive device operations against Afghan and coalition forces. Jan, also known as Qari Ismael, also known as Jawid, was Halim's top military advisor. He directed and executed attacks under Halim's orders targeting Afghan government officials, in addition to Afghan and coalition forces.

    An Afghan and coalition security force arrested one extremist during an operation in search of a Taliban high-profile attack facilitator in Sayyidabad district, Wardak province, June 14. The facilitator acquires and distributes weapons, ammunition, improvised explosive devices and other military equipment for use in attacks targeting Afghan and coalition forces in Kabul, Logar and Wardak provinces. He also coordinates training for new extremists.
