4th SOK defends Farah Judicial Center, killing four insurgents
FARAH PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Commandos of 4th Special Operations Kandak from Shindand district took part in a helicopter response force mission to defeat an insurgent attack against the Farah Judicial Center, April 3.
The 207th Corps commander requested a quick reaction force from the 4th SOK commander to support Afghan National Army and Afghan National Police in defending the center from Taliban insurgents, who were attacking the judicial complex.
The insurgents indiscriminately killed more than 50 Afghan civilians and wounded 56 other Afghan civilians when they attacked the judicial complex with suicide vests and small arms fire. The insurgents launched the attack in a failed attempt to liberate several members of the insurgency awaiting sentencing at the courthouse.
The 207th Corps dispatched two helicopters to support rapid movement of the 4th SOK commandos’ assault force. Once the commandos arrived at the judicial complex, they supported the ANA and ANP by defeating the insurgents.
The 4th SOK commandos killed four insurgents, while safeguarding Afghan citizens and Farah from further harm.
