The President of the Republic of Poland Karol Nawrocki, embraces Polish Armed Forces Capt. Karol Cierpica during the naming ceremony of Staff Sgt. Michael Ollis community cultural center in Oleszno, Poland, Sept. 16, 2026. Cierpica was saved by Ollis on Aug. 13th, 2013 in Forward Operating Base Ghazni, Afghanistan. Ollis posthumously received the Medal of Honor and the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland - the highest state decoration for foreigners - on March 2, 2026.
