    Operation Ardent Vanguard

Spc. Alexandria Ryan, with the 38th Military Police Company, 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB) in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, opens a first aid kit while rendering aid to a child experiencing a heat-related illness in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas, on Aug. 14, 2026. While monitoring the southern border, Ryan and her teammate, Spc. Allen Harmon, responded to a radio request for emergency medical assistance for an unresponsive two-year-old. The Soldiers quickly assessed the child, initiated immediate cooling measures, and provided continued monitoring until emergency medical services arrived. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities, to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
