JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON (Sept. 3, 2026) – Travis Harrison, director, Resource Management, Naval Medical Research Unit (NAMRU) San Antonio, was awarded the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Medal by Commanding Officer Capt. Michael Tiller during an All Hands meeting held at the Battlefield Health and Trauma Research Institute. During his service, from May 2024 to September 2026, Harrison’s strategic foresight and meticulous resource stewardship ensured uninterrupted operational readiness and steadfast financial compliance across all command initiatives. Furthermore, through his exemplary leadership, he fostered a culture of administrative excellence and fiscal accountability that will serve as a benchmark for future leaders. NAMRU San Antonio, part of Navy Medicine Research & Development, conducts gap-driven combat casualty care, craniofacial, and directed energy research in support of Navy, Marine Corps and joint U.S. warfighter health readiness and lethality while engaged in routine and expeditionary operations.
