A U.S. Air Force poster, the fourth in a four-part series commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, was created at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, Sept. 2, 2026. The poster honors Air Force Reserve Maj. LeRoy Homer Jr., first officer of United Airlines Flight 93, which was hijacked and crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Homer, his fellow crew members and passengers were among the 40 individuals aboard Flight 93 whose lives were lost after passengers and crew resisted the hijackers, preventing the aircraft from reaching its intended target in Washington, D.C. Homer’s service and sacrifice exemplify the courage, commitment and sense of duty embodied by Citizen Airmen. His legacy reinforces the vital role Reserve Airmen play in the defense of the nation and serves as an enduring reminder of the importance of maintaining a ready, resilient and mission-focused force prepared to answer the nation’s call.
