RHINE ORDNANCE BARRACKS, Germany - 1st Lt. John Tambe from the 2nd Cavalry Regiment takes part in the 18-mile forced march event during the 2026 Europe Best Medic Competition. The competition was held at Breitenwald Range, Rhine Ordnance Barracks and Ramstein Air Base, Germany Aug. 28-30. The demanding competition forced the competitors to demonstrate their expertise and skill in a variety of tasks to include combat water survival skills, the expert physical fitness assessment, an extended foot march, weapons qualification and stress shoots with the M4A1 carbine, tactical combat casualty care, prolonged casualty care, rough terrain rescue, a written test, detainee operations and land navigation. The winners of this competition will go on to represent Medical Readiness Command, Europe in the U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Jack L. Clark, Jr. Best Medic Competition to be held February 2027.
