To protect the health of our patients, our workforce, and our Soldiers, approved Exceptions to Policy (ETPs) require annual seasonal influenza vaccination for designated Department of the Army and Defense Health Agency personnel.
The requirement applies to:
• Defense Health Agency health care personnel and other personnel with direct patient contact or exposure.
• Initial Entry Training and Combat Training Center rotational forces.
• Deploying and deployed personnel.
• Continental U.S.-based Immediate Response Force Service members.
• Personnel in critical occupational settings, including health care, emergency response, confinement facilities, and child and youth services.
Annual influenza vaccination helps protect vulnerable patient populations, maintain a safe health care environment, preserve medical readiness, and support the operational readiness of the Army. It also helps ensure continuity of care for Service members and their Families while enabling military personnel to remain focused on the mission.
Additional guidance regarding vaccination timelines and procedures will be provided through unit leadership and supervisors as the seasonal influenza vaccination campaign begins.
