Gen. Stephen Whiting, U.S. Space Command commander, poses with members of USSPACECOM’s Joint Integrated Space Teams (JIST), as they gathered at the command’s headquarters for the 6th annual summit in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Aug. 25, 2026. JISTs are comprised of both civilian and military personnel representing all services and are assigned to USSPACECOM’s headquarters but are physically located within each of the combatant commands to fuse space warfighting expertise into their staff planning. During the summit, JIST elements offered operational updates and insights to command leaders while also engaging with the headquarters staff to gain a better understanding of how best to incorporate USSPACECOM’s vision, direction, and priorities as they support adjacent combatant commands. USSPACECOM, working with allies and partners, plans, executes, and integrates military spacepower into multi-domain global operations in order to deter aggression, defend national interests, and when necessary, defeat threats.
